Denver Water and City of Littleton 2026 Rates

New Denver Water rates start January 1st.

The Denver Board of Water Commissioners adopted rate changes to help pay for important upgrades, projects and ongoing maintenance and repair work to keep its system operating efficiently while keeping rates as low as good service will allow. The new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2026.

The fixed monthly charge — which is tied to the size of the meter — is increasing by $1.85 in 2026, to $20.91 per month for customers with a ¾” meter.

Denver Water expects to invest $1.7 billion over the next 10 years in projects that will maintain, repair, protect and upgrade the system and make it more resilient and flexible in the future. The utility is committed to ensuring the system can reliably deliver safe, clean and affordable water to its customers while managing the impacts of the larger economy, from inflation to supply chain issues.

A water bill is comprised of a volume rate for the amount of water used and also a fixed charge based on the size of your meter. Denver Water’s rate structure includes three tiers based on how much water you use. Indoor water use — for bathing, cooking and flushing toilets — is essential for human life and is charged at the lowest rate. Efficient outdoor water use is charged in the second tier (middle rate), followed by additional outdoor water use in the third tier (highest rate).

The 2026 volumetric water rates for district customers are shown in the following chart.

TierMonthly ConsumptionRates per 1,000 gallons
Tier 1Indoor household use $3.03
Tier 2Efficient outdoor water use$5.45
Tier 3Additional outdoor water use$7.26

Sewer rates likely to increase starting January 1st.

The City of Littleton’s 2026 budget proposes a sewer rate increase of 5% for all customers connected to the wastewater collection system. This is same increase that was imposed for 2025 as part of ongoing maintenance and capital improvements for the sewer system.

The South Platte Renew (SPR) treatment plant serves the cities of Littleton and Englewood as well as 19 connector districts within the 75 square mile service area. Littleton’s Sewer Utility Fund provides for the city’s 50% share of funding for the SPR treatment plant while maintaining the sanitary sewer collection lines within the collection area.
