Three water main replacement projects are scheduled for 2025.
These projects are part of an ongoing effort to rehabilitate the District’s aging infrastructure and improve the quality and reliability of water distribution in your neighborhood. The construction contract was awarded to Levi Contractors at the end of May, with work expected to begin on May 27.
Project details are as follows:
S. Depew St. – This project is in the Normandy Estates subdivision and will replace 1,173 feet of 8″cast iron pipe with 8″ PVC pipe and 970 feet of 6″ cast iron pipe with 8″ PVC pipe in S. Depew St. from W. Ontario Ave. to W. Rowland Pl.
W. Chestnut Ave. – This project will replace 1,453 feet of 6″ cast iron pipe with 6″ PVC pipe in W. Chestnut Ave. from S. Lamar Court to S. Kendall Blvd. This project is in the Columbine Hills subdivision.
S. Jay Dr. – This project will replace 623 feet of 12″ cast iron pipe with 12″ PVC pipe in S. Jay Dr. from W. Elmhurst Dr. to W. Alder Ave. This project is also in the Columbine Hills subdivision.
- The anticipated working hours for the projects are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- District staff, its consultant, and its construction contractor will work closely with the residents and regulatory agencies to minimize disruptions to traffic and the environment.
- Water service may be interrupted when the new water mains are connected to the existing mains, however, this will be limited to a few hours at a time.
- Residents will be notified at least 24 hours in advance before service is interrupted.
- Emergency shutoffs may occur due to unforeseen circumstances.
- If requested, the District can supply bottled drinking water to impacted customers during scheduled outages.
