EMERGENCY WATER MAIN REPAIR

5/20/2018 EMERGENCY WATER MAIN REPAIR

At 12:00 A.M. this morning, Platte Canyon responded to a water main break at 5625 W. Canyon Ave. (at Depew St.) in the Columbine Hills subdivision. As that water main break was being repaired, a second break was identified on the same water main. As a result of these breaks, staff had to shut down the water main that feeds Columbine Hills Elementary School. Therefore, Columbine Elementary has been closed for the day.

Currently, the District’s emergency services contractor is working swiftly to repair the breaks and restore service to all customers. There is also damage to one home’s sewer service line, which we believe was damaged during the first failure. Additionally, construction material used to fill the first excavation entered into a sewer main line. Staff is running a bypass pumping line to ensure sewer service remains for the majority customers in the area. A permanent solution is will be implemented later today.

Although water and sewer service have been restored to the majority of customers in the area, there are several that are still without water and/or sewer service. Attached is a map reflecting the customers without water service. The estimated outage is until noon on Monday, May 21.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the District at 303-979-2333. Additional updates will be provided on the District’s website and Facebook page as they are available.  Thank you for your understanding.
