Waterwise garden.

Garden In A Box Spring Sale Begins March 11

Get a head start on a beautiful, water-wise garden by ordering your Garden In A Box from Resource Central. The spring sale for Garden In A Box kits begins Wednesday, March 11.

Each kit includes:

  • Small “starter” plants that establish and fill in over about three years.
  • Professionally designed perennial garden layouts with plant-by-number instructions.
  • Care and maintenance guidance.
  • Water-wise plants that can save at least 7,000 gallons of water over the life of the garden compared to the same area planted with Kentucky bluegrass.

With snowpack levels at record lows this winter, the likelihood of outdoor watering restrictions this summer is increasing. To help residents prepare, Denver Water is offering a limited number of $25 discounts on water-wise Garden In A Box kits through Resource Central.

For residents planning to replace 200 to 2,000 square feet of water-intensive Kentucky bluegrass, Denver Water is also offering additional support. Residential customers may qualify for discounts of up to $750 through Resource Central’s turf replacement services. Homeowners taking a do-it-yourself approach can also participate. If you plan to remove at least 200 square feet of turfgrass, you can apply for the program and, if approved, use the discount toward up to four Garden In A Box kits.

By participating in the Garden In A Box program, residents can create an attractive, sustainable landscape while reducing outdoor water use.

For residents interested in creating a low-water native grass landscape, Denver Water also offers eligible customers a free bag of native grass seed along with guidance on how to establish it successfully. Applications for the free water-wise grass seed open April 1.

Denver Water also offers landscape workshops throughout the year. Visit denverwater.org/workshops for details and to register for in-person and online 2026 workshops.
