New Member Appointed to the Board of Directors

Mark Swatek was appointed to the Platte Canyon Board of Directors in April.

Mark graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1975 and with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1977. Mark has an impressive resume as a professional engineer and was awarded with the Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Award from Purdue University in 2010-2011.

Mark has over 40 years of experience designing, constructing and operating water and wastewater infrastructure here in the United States as well as in the UK, China, Australia, Bolivia, Italy and Canada. Mark’s career evolved to executive leadership of the organizations he was associated with. He served as a director on numerous for-profit boards as both an inside director (employee) and outside director for both privately held and publicly traded corporations.

Mark retired from SouthWest Water Company in 2010 where he served as the President and CEO. “As CEO of Southwest Water Company, I was responsible for the operation of regulated water utilities in five states serving over a half million customers as well as operating other utilities serving more than two million customers,” he said.

Today, Mark provides management and technical consulting services to a variety of companies including engineering companies, water utilities, and investment bankers in support of strategic opportunity evaluation. He currently serves on the Bow Mar South HOA and has a small bicycle repair business that serves his neighborhood. He enjoys traveling, gardening, spending time with his grandson and bicycling.

Welcome to the District, Mark!
